The law and what will happen if you get done speeding over 100mph

as far as i know its a ban not sure how long or if you have to re do your test

does anyone know anything about this subject of what the turn out is more likely to be ?

thank you

Well this is never an easy one to answer as all forces are different but generally if your going over 100mph your going to court and a ban is very likely. The Magistrate/s will look at all the evidence and circumstances (i.e doing over 100 mph and driving like a tit!)

The ACPO (Association of Chief Police Officers) give guidelines to forces but its up to them what policy's they put in place.

I will quote PNLD (Police National Legal Database):

it is each individual police force's discretion as to what speed the enforcement begins. Below are the recommendations from the Association of Chief Police Officers as to what the minimum speed for enforcement is and what is the minimum speed for court proceedings.

*** PLEASE NOTE THAT THE BELOW ARE ONLY RECOMMENDATIONS AND POLICE FORCES ARE NOT BOUND TO FOLLOW THEM SO YOU CANNOT RELY ON THIS INFORMATION. IT HAS BEEN REPRODUCED HERE AS A GUIDE ONLY***

So all in all best advice is don't do it you will more than likely lose your licence unless you can give the court a good reason as to why you were speeding that much or as to why they shouldn't ban you (i.e need to drive for work etc bear in mind that this is not a get out of jail free card) (for want of a better way of putting it) and will only work the first time (if at all)

Also worth remembering the limits for the road your on and the Typical Stopping Distances.

UK Speed Limits:

Typical Stopping Distances:

Hope that's of use Very Happy

I was speedin on the m6 but went past 2 t5s was going to quick for the first to get of the overhead bridge and pull me. When i stopped they started questioning me and when they realised i had a substansial amount of money on me ( over 2k ), they arrested me for money laundering not speeding and forgot about it haha so when i prove the money is legit which is easy i get off scotch free..
